Graceland

Our second day in Memphis we went to Graceland!
This was honestly the coolest.
We got to tour Elvis’s mansion (which he bought at the age of 22 for $100,000!  Crazy, right?!).   We were able to tour the whole mansion except for the upstairs, which was Elvis’s "private quarters" and his family wanted to keep it that way.

The living room.
Love the peacock stain glass panels.
And I love this picture he had of himself in the room

This was his parent's bedroom

The forbidden upstairs.
After reading about the upstairs, and especially about Elvis's room and how they have kept everything exactly how it was the day he died, and that there are only 3 people (Priscilla, Lisa Marie and the Graceland Curator) who are allowed upstairs, it made us want to go up there even more!

Formal dining room
Love this picture of Priscilla and Lisa Marie

The kitchen

Going down the stairs to the basement.  He had the walls leading down the stairs covered in mirrors!
Bar in the basement
One of the rooms in the basement.  This room was covered in mirrors too so everything was kinda trippy.

The billiards room.
I love how this room was covered from the ceiling down the walls with the same fabric the couches were made from.

The "Jungle Room"

This whole wall was a water fall

The backyard

Lisa Marie's swingset

The pool

Out in the backyard there was a smaller building he had built for his racquetball court.
This was the front part of it

And this was where he would play racquetball.
(it obviously didn't look like this before he died)

 Some of his famous jumpsuits

Elvis had a meditation garden in his backyard that they later used to bury his body along with his parents and grandmother

If you are ever in Memphis you have to go tour Graceland.  These pictures don't do justice to going there and seeing everything for yourself.  It is definitely worth the price!

I took way too many pictures for just one post so I will be blogging about the other things we got to tour of his in another post to come!
