Saturdays that start off by sleeping in are our favorite!
This past Saturday, after we spent the morning being lazy, we grabbed cousin Lyman and headed to Kailua to meet up with Uncle Paul. We first stopped in Lanikai to go on a hike, which Uncle Paul tricked us into thinking was going to be easier than it was. The hike was pretty steep and it was so hot climbing up that mountain! But the view at the top was incredibly beautiful and totally worth it! There were also these pill boxes that were at the top that were used during WWII to watch for the Japanese submarines. It was cool to see that kind of history.

Once we made it back down we went to a little farmers market for some lunch then headed to the beach to cool down. This was my first time going to Lanikai beach which I've been dying to go to ever since I learned that it is Hawaii's "most popular" or "most beautiful" (something like that) beach.

After the beach, as we headed to town, we made a pit stop at the Pali lookout. This is the site where King Kamehameha and his army fought the battle of Nuuanu and forced hundreds of soldiers to their death off the edge of the cliff. It is a beautiful lookout that shows a panoramic view of the Windward side of the island and it is known for its incredibly strong winds, and let me tell you, those are some serious winds up there.
None of these pictures do any justice to how beautiful all of these places really are.
